Recent Spam and new classiccmp server status

Started loading the new classiccmp server. Nice machine. Soon as I finish
installing, I will post a url to some pictures of the unit, plus I will post
a complete public accounting for all the costs and what each person donated.
If any of the people who donated don't want their name/amount publicized,
just let me know right away. I would normally not publicize donor/amount,
but I want to make sure everyone sees that it's all above board & all and
the funds were used appropriately. Needless to say there were no overages in
the donation amount, so I covered the rest.

I'm looking at the possibility of creating two lists, but keep them linked
in one direction (if that's possible). classiccmp_at_classiccmp.org and
classiccmp-flamers_at_classiccmp.org (no, I wouldn't call the second list that,
but you get the idea). I was thinking that first list would be very
carefully moderated. The second list would be watched for sillyness, but
much less stringent. This sounds like breaking the list in two - but it's
not - because anything posted to the regular list would mirror to the
"flamers" list. The reverse would not be true. Thus, people can choose which
list they subscribe to. If you want tightly moderated traffic that is
strictly technical gems, subscribe to the first. If you also want to be able
to see "friendly chat", subscribe to the second list instead. Subscribers to
the 2nd list will see technical posts on the first list, but subscribers on
the first list won't see the "junk" on the second list. Yes, this is an
attempt to make everyone happy which is rarely possible, and it puts the
burden of choice on the user to decide how they want to see things. I
haven't thought this through and don't even know that it's possible, but
wanted to let folks know what I was considering.

Also - because of the recent advertisements/spam that have made it to the
list, I want to change the address we use for posting to the list. If anyone
has suggestions, please send them to me in private email. I always thought
classiccmp_at_classiccmp.org was repetitive anyways. And of course, HELPFULL
suggestions for the name of the second (and linked) list would be most
appreciated.

Regards,

Jay West
