Naming Computers [was: A Momentous Decision]

Boy, this brings back memories. In the 60's I worked on all of those
systems, and designed parts of them - LOFAR, DIFAR, DICASS, SURTASS, EMSP
and a lot of others that I forgot. All ASW - Anti Submarine Warfare -
stuff. We were doing DSP before the name was born. I designed digital
filters and FFTs for our processors. My first digital filter used serial
arithmetic. What a kick to see the result be the same as the computer
simulation. Of course back then there was no processing control for these
systems and all of the necessary coefficients were hard wired, and, fixed
point. Thanks for the memories. Regards - Mike
