Yes, I'm aware of that. I suppose I should've said what I meant, which was
"not generally available as a replacement part." You couldn't order a SWIM
out of a catalog, like you could with, say, a SID.

For a roached SWIM, I agree, and for mine the replacement motherboard was
the cure. Further description of Carlos' problem leads me to suspect a
different failure.
