I'm not sure how the post office interprets "contains advertising"
because even books, CDs and other "media" items come with advertising
inserts nowadays.
If you don't think you can get by with media mail then use "Bound
Printed Matter" which doesn't have any advertising restrictions and
which is also cheaper then parcel post but is a bit more expensive then
media mail (depending on what zone you're sending to).

FWIW, you CANNOT ship these USPS media mail, since that
rate cannot be used for any publication that contains
advertizing.
