Building a PDP-11 for the first time

        Supposing you're one of those people that have always wanted a PDP-11/74, but
know next to nothing about them. Is there a good guide anywhere for "here's
the cards, here's the combinations they'll work in, and here's why mixing
this card with that card will work, but isn't a good idea."

        I'd like to wind up with an 11/74, but I'm willing to work my way there, like
say, if I could boot the thing sans front panel, and then find one later. I
certainly happy to troll eBay and whatever else picking up what I can, but I
have no idea what I should *want*.
