large disk platters?

We have a damaged platter hanging on the wall here. Until I climbed on
the table and measured it, it sure LOOKED a lot bigger than 24".

I've been told by unreliable sources that it came from an IBM 1620 CARET
("Can't Add, Doesn't Even Try"), and that it held 100K. Anybody know what
I can look for to confirm or refute?
