One DLT2000 drive I have is also labelled "Not TK50/TK70 certified". The
implication of the label is that there may have been drives produced
with better backwards compatibility.
About newer DLT media: I've seen varying prices for the tapes on EPay,
ranging from "good deal" status to "I'm sure I could find them new for
that price!!". YMMV...
