8" drive hooked up to a PC

Look in the comp.os.cpm FAQ. It's Q14. There's not much to it.
Just a matter of making a converter cable to go from the 34 pin
floppy connector on any "PC" compatible floppy controller to the
50 pin connector on the 8 inch drive. You may have to play around
with the drive select and the head load/motor on signals to get
it to work just right.
