Old manual got wet

Hi,
here is the problem:
I have an old manual which spent some time in water, and now after it
dried out, I have more or less just a piece of wood :(
So, how do you guys deal with something like that ? Put it in water
again, and try to remove page after page ?
Any better ideas ?
