Are there any hints for re-powering up an Varian Data Machines fixed-head disk

Hello,

in a previous mail to the list (some month's ago) I posted to the list,
that I got a Varian Data Machines 620L/100 and a corresponding
fixed-head disk.

After checking the CPU (and fixing some cables) and a first succesful
powerup of the cpu I would like to dare to attach the fixed-head disk.
This disk has been running the last time some 15-20 years ago and I
would like to know, if there are some advices available how to take some
precautions before powering up the disk.
