As happens a lot with Enigma descriptions, you see lots of references
to English work and none to Polish work. This in spite of the fact
that Poles did the original hard part of cracking Enigma, and the
English contribution was really more in mass-producing the process and
tweaking it as the Germans made incremental changes to the Enigma
machines.

The links to the van Verk Enigma-like machine are worth looking at, in
particular her website which shows a bunch of other impressive
mechanical and electronic work.
