There's a thread going on over in the comp.sys.apple2 newsgroup right
now started by someone who had his eBay auctions canceled. He was
auctioning Appleworks GS manuals; the only idea anyone could come up
with for why they were canceled is that Apple (who requested the
cancellations) sees selling the manuals without the software as
promotion of piracy - even of software long-discontinued and unavailable.

It wouldn't surprise me if the lawyers adopted a similar stance on
scanned manuals, even ones not tied to a particular software product.
