A single VAX 6000 cab is (from memory) a bit wider than a 19" rack,
but not by more than maybe a hand each side. There was an official
cab kit that let you run a set of RA7x drives (maybe in an SA7x
enclosure) in the bottom of the VAX 6000 cab. There may
even have been an official way to run a brace of RA9x drives
in there too. So it would be possible to run a VAX 6000 in
a single cab.

These days, assuming you are not going to be asking for
official support :-), you could try cramming an HSJ and
a string of SCSI drives in the bottom and stick a DSSI
card in the 6000 ...
