Windoze 3.1 will refuse to install unless there is SOME memory above 1M.
It therefore can not be installed on an 8088 machine.

Preliminary tests in August 1991 on the Beta version confirmed that it
in addition to refusing to install unless there was SOME memory above 1M,
it would not run if that memory were removed.
It WOULD work on an AT that had less than 640K of main memory, but had
some extended (512K main, 128K extended) There is a possibility that it
might work with as little as 16K of extended, but it REFUSES to install
without SOMETHING up there.
