Joe is right.

Lucent owned Bell Labs, but that was an accident. It certainly wasn't
an engineering company. In fact, Lucent has an amazing track records
of acquiring good companies and running them into the ground (I speak
from personal experience here). In multiple cases, it bought company
X to get product in category A, then bought company Y a few months
later (for a lot more money) to get another product in that same
category, then closed down X because of the overlap, then some months
later closed down Y also because it wasn't working out.
