Now that brings back a memory. When I first visited Notre Dame
in preparation of doing some graduate study there, I ran into
a guy I had known in college. He was doing some work on protocols
funded by IBM. To demonstrate their robustness, he actually did
set up tin cans and string. As I recall, he used and ordinary
speaker and microphone.
