Pine is good at some things and less good at others. Is it reading
mail directly from a POP3 account? It's known to not do that very well
in some instances (although to be fair to pine, not all POP3 servers
are created equal). You would probably be better off using fetchmail
to get the mail off your ISP's server onto a local machine if that's
the case. Then run an imap server (imapd comes with pine) on your own
local mailserver. If you're using pine to separate things into local
folders, you might consider using procmail instead.
