Oh yeah, run into that one ALL the time! What has always worked for me is
Acetone on a paper towel. (ONLY in well ventilated areas!) Takes the
marker off and evaporates quickly enough to not harm the paint or plastic.

NOTE: put the Acetone on the PAPER TOWEL, NOT on the equipment! And
always dispose of the used paper towels in an OUTSIDE garbage can!
