IBM did make several drives in 2.5" that works with XTA or ATA
interface.

Listed here for 2.5"

WDA-240/280 40mb/80mb
WDA-S260 - 60mb and WDA-2120 120mb.

The XTA and ATA is selected by one pin on the 44pin interface and
it's there on the ibm website.
