A friend of mine has spent about the last 8 years developing curriculum to
help kids get computer literate. One of the things he has impressed on me
is that computers are *tools*, and having the latest and greatest does very
little to teach students to think. It seems that the administrations are
one of the biggest problems in this regard as they seem to think older is a
waste of time. A few years ago, teachers seemed to be more reluctant to try
out computers (and perhaps still today) since in many occasions, the
students knew more than they did.
