Devices with 4004 chips

That describes many devices that use Texas Instruments TMS100
and descendants instead of 4004's :-).

How come people are so hot after 4004's and 8008's - even ripping
up PDP-11/34a's to get at the 8008's inside, for example - when nobody
cares about the TMS100's?
