Get with the times, that's like asking what a computer is :^) Basically /.
is a sight that a LOT of people check out many times a day. It's sort of
like a USENET newsgroup done on a web server. Each article is about some
web site or computer related article on the web somewhere. Commercial
sites often feel pain when they get a link, private sites often melt down.
If the site in question is on a NT server, it won't be able to handle the
traffic. Sometimes sites that recieve a link have to close off web access
for a while.
Common topics; Linux, Cool new tech, Macintosh, DEC Alpha, and everyones
favorite Anti-Microsoft.
Slashdot is a great site, I definitly recommend avoiding it, as it's also a
great time sink. Once you start, you can't stop :^/
