classic back ends?

Sounds like a fun project. Yes, there is a PDP-11 back end for GCC, although
it is not part of the standard distribution. I don't have it handy, but
if you can't find it, I can probably dig it out of my archives.

I've never actually tried to use it, so I can't vouch for its quality.
