We didn't invent a new nature of matter to come up with zero-point energy
either. AFAIK, it is entirely consistent with the Standard Model.

The Standard Model has proven remarkably good at predicting the existence of
things that have never previously been observed, such as the top quark and
several of the vector guage bosons.

As I.I. Rabi asked about the muon, "Who ordered that?"
