IIRC, the license it came with said that you could use it if you sent them
money, and that you could redistribute copies of it. They can't rescind that.
They can refuse to take your money when you offer it, but that doesn't mean
that you can't use the program. However, they aren't obligated to provide
any support or updates.

Note that the license for the shareware version doesn't entitle you to run
a later non-shareware version.

That's my understanding, FWIW, but IANAL.
