This is a reasonably high volume list already. I don't mind the occasional
off-topic discussion (and I suppose I've been guilty of participating in
some), but usually they at least start from something that is on-topic. If
people really care about this junk (which can be easily avoided by simply not
running IE), they can subscribe to bugtraq. If every time there is a
vulnerability in IE it were to be posted to this list, it would completely
drown out the discussion of classic computers.

I'll be entirely delighted to see discussions of IE and Office 97 on this
list in 2007.

Actually, that's not true. If that's what we are discussing here in 2007,
I'll be looking for a list with a charter to discuss computers at least
20 years old. As it is, I already would like to see the charter amended to
exclude all IBM-compatible x86 systems, but there are some people that
actually LIKE the damned things, so it's apparently not going to happen.
