Exactly, imagine if the movie "Tora, Tora, Tora" had fictionalized an
invasion of Japan by the US that then prompted the Japanese to bomb Perl
Harbor. There is "artistic license" and there is "artistic license."
The technique is actually used in propoganda films quite a bit and is known
as "the big lie" and takes a huge untruth and wraps around it the very thin
veneer of truth so that the victim swallows the complete package.
