I recently rescued a load of Data General gear, including an MV/1000
system, a Cipher 9-track tape drive with a SCSI-to-Pertec interface, and a
few boxes of DG/UX documentation (which I assume once belonged to an
AViiON). The MV1000 is a large desktop-sized machine with what appear to
be 16 serial ports for connecting terminals. Looking inside, most of the
components date to 1988, and the most likely CPU candidate is a set of 4
Fujitsu ICs in relatively large PGA packages.
Does anyone have any pointers to additional information about the DG
Eclipse MV-series machines and/or AOS? The comp.os.aos newsgroup seems to
be dead, and _Soul of a New Machine_ is the closest thing to documentation
that I have.
