Depending upon _which_ TRS-80 Daisywheel it is, you can probably
still order ribbons through your local Radio Shack store. Most
were still in the catalog last I checked.
And as of a few months ago, Computer Friends in Oregon was still
advertising their re-inking machines. Mine served me quite well
(with five ribbon adapters) back in the eighties.
If the ribbons are simply dried out from age but still have the
pigment, the treatment with WD-40 (I prefer linseed oil) should
work.
If it's a Daisy Printer II, you've got a good machine. Almost
impossible to kill unless you plug it into an AT&T 6300 video
connector. That's the kind of printer that did the drafts of
Asimov's last 150 or so books and thousands of short pieces.
And yes, the PS on the selector refers to proportional spacing,
not to PostScript. I've never heard of a Daisy Wheel PostScript
printer and doubt one could be viable.
