The going industry Field Service rate in my DEC and third party days
was $130/hr. I've heard the current rate is $160/hour.

Here's my old Field Service take.

You can figure out what percent of that they'd be willing to pay
(sometimes they'll dump the hardware instead of fix it... sometimes
the piece is so important to to operations they'll pay almost anything.

Figure in the swap price on the drive and you can just figure the
current hourly rate.

I figure $50 should be your bare minimum labor rate on this -- for your time
and effort. However, sometimes that can be offset by you getting a pile
of scrapped out hardware in exchange.

The other issue is warrantee... If you're charging third party or DEC
service rates, you have to provide similar guarantee of replacement of
the drive for infant mortality, etc. If you're just doing a favor and
installing the swap drive as a friendly (cost recovery+expenses) issue
than the pricing is quite different.

Three things never anger: First, the one who runs your DEC,
The one who does Field Service and the one who signs your check.
