Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, they are still rather expensive
compared to the barebone PC :-( Wonder if I can pick up a used one
somewhere.....

For a powered passive ISA backplane, try Jameco. You can buy the chassis,
the passive motherboard (either 14 ISA, or a 10 ISA and 4 PCI combination),
and the power supply separately. Or you can get the chassis with power
supply (300W) for $400, and the backplane is $70 or $120 for the combo
ISA/PCI.
