An alternative to UPS

It has already been mentioned but Fedex now has a Ground service which is
great for competition. For the most part, shipping anything bigger than a
book was always cheapest by UPS. Now that Fedex has a comparable ground
service (I believe they call it Green) there is an alternative. Even
better, the rates are apparently cheaper with Fedex.

As far as books and magazines go, it is always cheaper to ship using the
US Postal Service book rate. You must request it at the counter. In some
cases you can save up to half the shipping costs.

Of course, most of this applies to the U.S.
