This sounds like the most sensible option to me as well.

It's not usually much of a problem for me, so long as I have the time to
read the list. But at the moment I'm on holiday, and without my mail
filters for two weeks. Today, it's taken me an hour to read my email, with
a fair bit being classiccmp. (just a small observation)
