Ain't a lot of things I know about that I can claim to be what we might
term an 'expert' in, but after getting a BSEE when I was 19, filing 11
patents in 20 years, and working for the last 15 years as an audio systems
engineer, consultant, acoustician, and facility designer in Hollywood (10
years as Chief Engineer, MGM Studios)... well, Shannon and Nyquist and
Olson and Fletcher&Munson, Beranek, Massa, Wendte, et.al., have always
seemed to generate the correct solutions to my particular problems,
whenever I consult their work, as I do to this day, designing recording
facilities and new cinema theatres in India.

Mr. Steven, now that you have publically announced your rather
generalistic, simplistic, and {I feel) unsupported criticism, might I
suggest a more careful re-reading of those portions of Shannon you think
are in error, and then posting here (tho semi off-topic) your rigorous
proofs of same, so some of us who make our livings using this data can
then modify our own information? I for one, would be quite grateful to
you, because a couple of multi-million dollar projects I have in hand, as
we speak, will need some revisions if you are, in fact, correct.

  I anxiously await your reply....

  Cheers

John

PS Since Shannon was the first to reduce to science the art of switchng
circuit design, perhaps (by a stretch) this can be construed to be [sorta]
on topic. ;}
