I looked in mine. It uses a Rodime 552 mechanism with a custom logic
board.

I'm currently backing up the data on it to try one more time to make it
work on a thin mac. I recalled being hesitant to try much since, at the
time, I didn't know what irreplacable relics of ancient software I'd be
losing. Once I found out it worked on a Plus, I discovered it had System 6
installed on it, which I realise now may be why it doesn't work with the
128k.
