Exactly HOW are you trying to set the unit number?

Hmm, possibly, I still suspect we are using the wrong device name to boot.

Some possibilities (off the top of my head)
MUA0 MUA1
MUB0 MUB1
MUC0 MUC1

Some of which you have already tried.

I can't find anything else useful in the manual for the 6000 at the moment.
Will look at some other sources.

Any of our resident DECsperts care to confirm that a 6000 can be booted from
TU81+/KLESI-B devices?
