The virus mentioned above appears to be the new (just identified this morning) nimda viroworm.

Right now we're expreriencing 8 to 10 times our normal volume of traffic due to probes from infected machines. We're not infected, but the machines out on the net that ARE are wreaking havorc everywhere.
