FWIW I end up hitting
    Format > Plain Text
and then
    Format > Encoding > (More >) Western European (ISO)

in Outlook (Express) fairly frequently,
for purposes of using clear text.
Simple, Huh? (note: anti MS sarcasm)

{IF that isn't enough, add a 'save draft', view draft,
send step to ensure proper indenting.
What have they done to WYSIWYG?}
