Hi Bill,

In case you don't already know it, they're 4 x 256k bits and very few computers used them. Recently I needed about 180 44256s to fill out the memory in my HP viper cards. After some looking I found that some old VGA cards use them (particurly the Trident cards). I went to a surplus store that lots of PC cards and bought all of their cards that had socketed 44256s and got all the ICs that I needed. I got the cards for about $1.50 each. Some cards had four 44256s and some had eight (naturally I filled up on as many with eight as possible :-) I don't remember if the ICs were 44c256s or just 44256s or a mixture but it's worth checking on.
