Hmm. It must have been a lightpen (or something rather like a lightpen),
but there was a fine mesh which stretched over the screen itself. I
wondered if it used that to make a circuit, as the end of the pen was a
kind of rubber, a bit like the stuff used to make the contact pads in old
Commodore keyboards.

OTOH, it is 13-14 years since I've seen one, so it's entirely possible my
memory has become faulty...
