I'd take that - 40 pounds is about 19 kilos, and using the Royal Mail to
ship 19 kilos to the US costs ukp82.55 for surface shipping, which is about
$124. Make sure that it gets marked as a gift, and I'd also put a
description of something like 'old computer parts' rather than a whole
machine - Uncle Sam might get suspicious.
Just checked Amtrak and that's even more expensive.......
