I still won't pay more than $1,200 for an Altair (notice I have come up on
this as well...before I poo-pooed anything over $1,000) but that's because
I'm cheap. I'd rather wait for a good deal or a chance encounter, and
even then I rarely pay over $300 for any one thing. In fact, I don't
think I have ever paid more than $300 for any one machine. I have spent
hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a lot or collection of machines.
I paid $300 for a prototype Apple //gs. I can't think of anything else
where I spent more.
