Or...maybe replacing the From: email address in the archive emails with
the list email address hasn't worked as well as folks thought it might?

The XFree86 mailing list auto-sends an email the first time someone posts
to the list (even if not a subscriber) to let the sender know that the
address they mailed is a mailing list. It seems to work very well.
