No shells.
Peanut butter is sold in two forms: "smooth/creamy/..." and "crunchy"
The crunchy is usually smooth peanut butter with some chunks of peanut
added back in.
It's not very abrasive.

Peanut shells (or better yet walnut shells) are a very useful abrasive,
and are ground up for use in sand-blasting like equipment.
