I've been keeping track of Apple clone prices for a little over a year
now, but I have less formal records going back to 2000. I can usually
guess to within $5.00 or so, what the ending price on a particular clone
will be, but there are still times when I am WAY off, for reasons that
aren't always clear to me.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the ending bids on most of
the old computer stuff has been way down since 2001. Not all prices, but
most seem to be off from their highs during the heady dot.com days. No
surprise, I guess, and I'm not complaining. It sort of gives me a reason
to hold on to items that I might otherwise have been tempted to sell.
I also wonder if the market has been saturated. Is the group of
collectors growing, or shrinking? I can't tell either way?
