And in the case of electronics design software (e.g. PROTEL or EAGLE), you
tend to get innundated with "Two output pins on one net" and similar design
check errors rather quickly.

Same here. I really need to find somewhere that stocks logic design and
electronic design templates, though. Most of the local stationers don't stock
them and couldn't get them either, which is a bit of a pain. ISTR Tandy
(RadioShack) used to sell them, but they're long gone now...
