If I offer to help, would it be better to carry one object
twice as heavy or should we bring separate cudgels. We'll
obviously have to coordinate this via phone since my
email seems to be a bit erratic right now :-)

Most of the ADSL schemes require a BT landline -
they depend on BT being obliged to provide
access to the BT network.
