Odd... We had British cars here for about 30 years, with Lucas electrics.
Apart from service replacements (things like ignition contact breakers,
HT leads, etc), I think I had to replace one alternator
regulator/brushbox assembly (the pass transistor shorted, and it's a
potted module), and maybe a windscreen washer pump.

Our current car has Mitsubishi alternator and starter. I've had to strip
the starter to feee off jammed brushes and replace the alternator
regulator/brushbox (worn-out brushes).

On that record, Lucas is no worse than anything else.
