  That seems to be the case. I've had many cases where items took MONTHS to
clear customs in Europe but I've never had a delay of anything coming into
the US. Also the customs duties in many European countries can only be
called draconian. I've never had to pay customs for anything that I've
brought or shipped into the US. Canada is another good example of this.
When we worked in Canada they acted deathly afraid that we might leave our
tools there. They often made us pay a dond of several thousand dollars to
insure that we took our tools with us when we left.
