Sounds about right. There are some things that are worth having, though -
case in point being the soldering station (an Antex 660-TC) I bought the
other day. Having used it all of three times, I've relegated the
non-temperature-controlled monstrosity I used before (a 25W that ran at
around 450C) to the back of the cupboard.
While I'm on the subject of soldering stations, is there any generally-agreed
"best" temperature for 60/40 Multicore solder? I've got the station set to
350C at the moment (increased 375 if I'm using desolder wick). I'll be damned
if I can find the datasheet for the solder I'm using on Multicore's website
though :-/
